Everything about Albino Alligator totally explained

Albino Alligator is a 1996 film directed by Kevin Spacey in his directorial debut. It stars Matt Dillon, Gary Sinise and William Fichtner as three small-time criminals who take hostages when they're cornered by the police. The title of the film, we learn, refers to the way that alligators will use an albino among them as a sacrifice, in order to secure their real prey.

Plot

Three criminals are on the tail end of a job gone wrong. With the police in pursuit, and one of the criminals badly wounded, the trio find themselves cornered in a bar. They then take the patrons and employees hostage, only to find that their list of options is getting shorter with each hour that they remain holed-up in the bar. Ultimately, it becomes clear that, through a series of misunderstandings, the police have mistaken the small-time thieves for the major criminals who they're really after. The tense situation escalates from there, with those on either side of the law seeking alliances that will ensure survival.

Reception

For the most part, Albino Alligator received below average reviews. Critics panned the cast as working below their potential.
The film's total US gross was less than $350,000, and spent only 4 weeks in US theaters.
